ECSC is North America's Oldest Running Surfing Competition and the second oldest continuously-run surfing contest in the world. More than 100 of the world's top professional surfers, male and female, and an estimated 300 amateur surfers will travel to Virginia Beach to "ride the curl" at the Oceanfront and compete for combined cash prizes of $40,000. Held annually in Virginia Beach, Virginia since 1963, ECSC is more than just surfing. Dozens of people also take part in other competitions including skimboarding, volleyball, an oceanfront 5K run, a swimsuit competitions, and the extreme sport of skateboarding. Soul Music Beachfest,

Soul Music Beachfest brings together sand, surf, and music for a weekend of soulful exploration. Against the rhythmic background of the Atlantic Ocean, music lovers explore the African origins of today's diversified music genres of soft rock, jazz, Latin, and R & B. This two-day festival focuses on local, regional, and national entertainment, food, activities, and ethnic arts and crafts. Vendors display an amazing array of ethnic merchandise. Rock 'N' Roll Half Marathon,

Over 17,000 runners descent on the Virginia Beach oceanfront for this 13.1-mile race. Participants compete for the largest half-marathon prize purse in the United States. With a course that's fast, flat and fun, the Rock 'N' Roll Half Marathon has become a must run event for thousands of racers. A post-race concert act on the 5th Street Stage tops off the fun-filled day.

American Music Festival,

The American Music Festival will take place over Labor Day weekend with
over 40 bands rockin' the oceanfront. While strolling down the picturesque
